Joining Aetna
Embracing the Scale
I joined Aetna, a CVS Health Company, as a UX/UI designer, stepping into the largest organization I had ever been a part of. My primary role involved using their new and still growing design system to lay out website content for various internal teams such as Aetna Medicare and other highly regulated services.
I immersed myself in understanding Aetna’s design system: attending onboarding sessions, exploring extensive documentation, and studying existing projects to grasp the nuances of their design language.

Switching Software on an Enterprise Level
My ongoing familiarity with Figma enabled me to quickly adapt during Aetna’s transition from Sketch and InVision. I also played a key role in guiding teammates through the learning curve, sharing best practices as we fully integrated Figma into our design process.

The Unstoppable Agile Release Train
With my familiarity in Figma and Aetna’s design system, I was able to quickly mock up a large number of website pages for internal teams. This streamlined the design process, improved consistency, and sped up collaboration. Through workshops and guidance, many team members adopted Figma best practices, making the transition smoother and boosting overall efficiency by 75%.
Growth and Reflection
The Path Forward
My journey at Aetna has been marked by significant professional growth. The collaborative environment and the challenges we overcame together demonstrated what happens when continuous improvement meets an all-star team with a deep bench.
Reflecting on my experience, I am proud of the contributions I made to enhance the design system and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation. This journey has prepared me to tackle more complex design systems challenges in the future.
